This counts as a sunny day in London.
In Barcelona, it would be called “cloudy.”

Same sky.
Different standard.

Interesting, isn’t it?

Cold.
Warm.
Affordable.
Expensive.
Win.
Loss.

So much of what we experience is shaped not just by reality, but by the lens we’re using to interpret it.

Rent in London or New York seems high.
Until you view it through a London tech salary.

A career transition feels intense.
Until you remember what it once took to get here.

There’s an old formula that says:

Happiness = Reality – Expectations.

But I prefer to look at it a little differently.

Fulfilment grows in two ways:

  • You can elevate your reality.
  • Or you can refine your expectations.

Both are powerful.

One is about building, expanding, stretching.
The other is about aligning, appreciating, recalibrating.

Neither is passive.
Neither is settling.

And many of the leaders I work with discover something surprising:

They don’t necessarily need a different life.
They need a more conscious measuring stick.

Because when you adjust the standard with intention.
Not comparison, not pressure, but clarity.
The same cloudy-sunny sky can feel entirely different.

So before rushing to upgrade the weather…

Pause.

Ask yourself:
Is it time to expand my reality?
Or to gently recalibrate the way I’m measuring it?

Sometimes fulfilment isn’t found in doing more.

It’s found in choosing the scale more wisely. 🌿

And What Else?

If this resonates, you might find the Change Readiness Navigator helpful. It’s a simple reflective tool to explore where you are in your transition — and what kind of support or shift would serve you next.

Sometimes clarity doesn’t come from pushing forward.
It comes from orienting yourself first.
